With the government soon to announce details around what Alert Level 3 will look like, many are wondering what it will mean for them.

The agriculture sector has already been a bit luckier than the urban dweller but they too will be wondering what a lowered alert level will mean.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told The Country once cabinet has met, they'll be providing clarity around this.

"They in the same way that other Kiwis will be looking out for what is it we can access for good and services beyond essential. That's where we will be providing a bit more detail, and that will have the same impact on them as it will for any Kiwi."

She says that there have been no decisions made as to how long restrictions would last, but dismissed suggestions that it could take 12 months to move down to Alert Level 1.

Ardern says that we will need to continue social distancing and being careful around social and mass gatherings.

Asked if she was bothered by the plans to fund extensions for footpaths and pop-up cycleways, Ardern says that people trying to keep their distance from other people while out walking would notice that many paths are quite restrictive in space and can be in poor condition.

"People have their own opinion about whether or not they want to hear about that right now, but I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to be doing at this level."

Ardern also says that while there are only about three people making announcements at the moment, her other colleagues are working hard behind the scenes.
