ACT leader David Seymour is not interested in being called the "real" Opposition leader.

NZ Herald political editor Claire Trevett has made the claim that Seymour is pushing his case after the post-Budget weekend, where he fared better than National leader Judith Collins.

But speaking to The Country, Seymour said there are two types of politics - beltway politics focused on issues like positions and titles, and real politics focusing on policies and people's problems."I've never really been much for the first kind. I actually turned down being a Minister to get policy done."

Asked if Collins is on borrowed time, Seymour said that many predictions can be wrong so it's not worth guessing.

He also discussed the Government's Budget, and why he isn't a fan of the benefit increase.
