Parents of unvaccinated children are being warned to look out for measles symptoms.

Nearly a thousand people around the country have the disease, with south Auckland the worst-affected area.

Pediatrician and infectious diseases specialist Dr Emma Best told Simon and Phil kids who have had the vaccinate are safe and don't need to worry about being around non-vaccinated children.
