Michael Baker has become a household name as we navigate through a worldwide pandemic. Â
After beginning his career with the Ministry of Health during the HIV/AIDS epidemic, he rose to the rank of professor of Public Health at the University of Otago, Wellington. Â
In 2013 he was awarded the Health Research Centre Liley Medal for his contribution to the health and medical sciences, is currently part of the COVID-19 Technical Advisory Group, and has been from the start one of the most vocal voices advocating for our elimination strategy. Â
