It's been 10 days since Toa was found stranded on Plimmerton rocks.
Toa was transferred to a man-made pool last Thursday after storms were forecast for Wellington.
Neither volunteers nor the orca can go back into the water until the regional council gives the all clear for post-storm pollution.
Marine Biologist Professor Karen Stockin says the longer Toa is with humans, the harder and more stressful it will be for him to reintegrate into a pod.
