Tech companies making a push into the finance industry

It’s not all roses though, every service is being criticised. Apple launched the Apple Card — a ‘simplified’ credit card but there are now investigations into bias into the granting of credit limits. A husband and wife with a similar credit score had wildly different credit limits offered to them. Facebook is launching Facebook Pay — a way to send money to friends. But can they be trusted with even more of your data? Google is launching a checking account. Google wants to know what you’re paid and what you’re spending your money on in the real world too.

Apple’s new 16 inch laptop is getting lots of praise...why?

It’s not the screen size, the connections or the processor, it’s the keyboard. It’s Apple’s first MacBook to ditch the 'butterfly' and go back to a 'scissor'. There’s also a real escape key to the left of the Touch Bar. It’s kind of sad this is such a massive talking point about this machine, but a fully working keyboard is kind of needed!

Google Maps wants to help you ask for directions from locals

They’ll now make it very easy to play, and display a translation of the name of the place you’re trying to go. Perfect for travellers when you don’t know how to speak the local language.
