Alana Thomas: Opening my world beyond the clutches of meth addiction: Part 2

28 March 2021: Walking on eggshells through childhood with a mother dealing with mental health challenges and drug addiction, meant Alana Thomas grew up without knowing support and stability. She fell into drug addiction at a very young age, smoking weed at 12 and beginning using methamphetamine at 14. She moved from weekend use to a daily basis habit and by her late teens her entire world revolved around meth, selling the class-A drug to fund her addiction. Well into a decade of meth abuse, which included time in Mount Eden Women’s Prison, after the birth of her daughter, Alana found the strength to turn her life around and give up her severe addiction. She shares  with Hamish Coleman-Ross and psychotherapist Kyle MacDonald on how creating a sense of self-worth and self-love was pivotal in shifting the self-loathing which had her hooked on meth.
