At just 16 years old, Nayland College student Brodie Seelen was the youngest competitor to take part in the two day individual Kathmandu Coast to Coast.

With a time of 14 hours and 27 minutes, a tyre blow out in the last 10kms meant he came 4th overall in the 18 years and under section, missing out on bronze by only five minutes.

Brodie will now have to wait a year and a half until he turns 18 to be allowed to compete in the longest day event. Until then, he is already training hard for next year's Coast to Coast, hoping to shave those extra few minutes off his time to take one of the top placings.
