My congratulations to Palmerston North, who have joined the other sensible areas of the country in stopping the creation of Maori wards on local city councils. 

69-30 was your result, which tends to be about the average around the country when the votes are held. 

It's what you would call a comprehensive result in the right direction, and I would hope a very, very loud message to those who still insist that Maori wards, or indeed any race-based representation, is a good thing or a way forward.
