Immigration New Zealand says tighter border control measures introduced this week are working well.
Most international travellers now need an Electronic Travel Authority before they arrive in the country.
General manager Stephen Dunstan told Mike Yardley it's proving effective in stopping people they don't want travelling here.
He says they've already stopped applications from 80 people.
"We have issued well over 210,000 already and we are expecting 105,000 people to travel in October."
