I feel sorry for this poor bugger in Christchurch. This guy, for reasons I don't know, has got this pristine private well.

The water coming out of his property is like nothing else on Earth. It's the most clean, clear and unchlorinated water in the history of water.

So what he does, as he's a nice guy, is point the tap out of his gate.

So for a number of years now, since 2010 and the earthquakes, people have been able to go to this guy's place and fill their bottle up with this pure, fantastic water.

And people have been coming in by the hundreds.

And you think that's a generous thing to do because there's cost in doing that. There are compliance costs because the moment the council get hold of that they need some compliance costs.

There's the food grade pipe that you need, there are regular water tests, and he's fitting a UV filter.

So he's spent some money on this all because he's a nice guy.

And initially he said, if you would like to, given there are costs in this, to donate when you take your water, that would be really nice.

Did people? No, they did not. It's incredible, isn't it?

People just go, "no I don't want to help out, I will just take your water".

And then what happens? In the night, tankers would come and take hundreds of litres of water. And then they would bottle the water, and they would sell it.

What a bunch of bastards.

Now what he's saying is, "look, I'm going to have to charge you" and he is charging 25 cents a litre and there's a maximum of 60 litres a day per family.

And I would have thought 60 litres per family is massive.

But what a breakdown of the community spirit eh?

The whole concept is you bring the community together with generosity and kindness. And all this guy gets is abuse, selfishness and robbery.

Unbelievable.
