Every Friday morning, Mike Hosking takes you through the big ticket items of the week and lets you know what he makes of it all.

Here's a taste of what he reckons.

Public Transport.

3/10.

"What a week for public transport.

The scandal of the Park n Rides, where you need to be there at least an hour ahead of your bus.

And the train system that Grant Robertson clambered down into this week that was going to be 3.5 billion dollars until the costs blew out to, well no one knows, and when no one knows you know it's ugly.

But Grant wasn't bothered."

Jacinda Ardern.

6/10.

"Dreadful business over Clare Curran. She looked weak and indecisive.

But then saved herself with the working group Tuesday, not that it’s not a gab fest, but at least she's got the critics in the tent which will keep them out of the headlines.

But then came yesterday and another Minister bites the dust making this officially a mess.

So let's make that a 4/10."

Charter Schools.

7/10.

"No, not ideal.

But still open and still with a chance to prove that different ideas are not all bad ideas, and that kids can be helped out outside of the state's one-stop shop unionised box."

Burger King and the Migrant Ban.

3/10.

"I have a hunch there is a touch of a beat up about the whole story, but a ban is a ban, and major corporates should not be in the business of looking like ogres and overlords."

Electric Vehicle Subsidies.

4/10.

"This week's survey is the most tangible example yet of some of the bollocks that is being pedalled around a technology that the consumer just isn't convinced on."

The Silver Ferns.

7/10.

"At last they’ve corrected the ship.

Amazing how you can get yourself into a mess like that and literally wreck a sport by ignoring the most obvious path that was in front of you all along.

They'll be amazed at what picking the best people does for them."
