Every Friday morning, Mike Hosking takes you through the big ticket items of the week and lets you know what he makes of it all.

Here's a taste of what he reckons.

Cannabis Referendum.

1/10.

"A MMP sop to the dope heads in the Greens. A lie to say its binding, when it isn't. An admission that your brain isn't developed until you're at least 25, yet they will sell it to you at 20.

It's a shabby, cynical little piece of social engineering from a government that falls over itself trying to right social wrongs. And yet on this, pedals a whole new series of them."

Zero Carbon Bill.

7/10.

"It's what the Green Party should be about.

James Shaw's dream looked a lot more alive Wednesday with this, than it did Tuesday when the potheads were out.

But will it ever become reality? No, targets never get met. Not in Kyoto, not in Paris, not in this."

Kiwibuild.

0/10.

"At last, this week in the house we got the sense from the government that next month, after their re-calibration, or reset, or whiteboard panic, or whatever they are calling it, they are finally going to admit Kiwibuild was a fantasy.

100,000 houses getting built isn't, and was never going to happen."

Israel Folau.

7/10.

"I admire those with the courage of their convictions.

And, on that part of it you can't fault him."

Kodi Nikorima.

9/10.

"Pleeeeeease Kodi. Pleeeeeease be good!"

Beyond Meat.

7/10.

"Meatless meat's worth billions despite never making a cent. Between them, Lyft, and Uber, who would have thought that losing money could make you so wealthy?

And who would have thought that so many people would love putting their hard earned cash into something that doesn’t make any money, and probably never will?"

Champions League Football Semi Finals.

9/10.

"Watch the goals. It is what makes sport magic."
