The Acting Prime Minister is reserving judgment on Wally Haumaha until he knows all the details.

The Government's looking into the Deputy Police Commissioner's appointment after it was made public that in 2014 Haumaha called the Louise Nicholas rape allegations against other police officers "nonsense".

Winston Peters told Mike Hosking sometimes people rush to support friends or associates before they have all the details.

"I don't know, but let's find that out before we rush to judgement and have someone belatedly judged on today's societies environment and rules when 25 years ago it wasn't the same."
