A US couple who own a business in the West Coast of New Zealand has been automatically denied residency due to their age.

Lisa White, 58, and Dan Butler, 63, moved to the West Coast in 2015 to live a slower pace of life. Lisa continued working as an US attorney while Dan opened an audiology clinic. However despite owning a business the pair were denied residency because they’re too old.

Lisa told Mike Hosking they were instantly rejected because they were both older than 55 despite ticking every box for education, experience, character, health and time spent in this country.
