Some Auckland Grammar students have needed medical support - to stop them vaping.
Headmaster Tim O'Connor's backing calls by the Cancer Society to push through new vaping legislation before this year's election.
He says at least a dozen students have admitted to him they need help curbing their addiction this year - and been offered support.
“We have been directed to an anti-smoking programme which includes regular meetings with student support staff and counsellors - and some are also directed to medical assistance as well.
O'Connor says vaping's having a bigger impact on students, than anything schools have seen for decades.
“It's been the main reason students have been stood down from school this year, and it's trending exponentially.”
