Steven Joyce is eyeing a job in the tech sector.

The former finance minister is stepping down after failing to win the National leadership race.

Joyce started his career in radio and has spent nine years in Parliament.

He told Mike Hosking he wants to be part of some of the emerging industries that he worked with while he was in government.

"I'd love to be involved in some of the wonderful companies that are exporting from New Zealand to the world, the tech companies, some of the new food companies."
