It's back - round one of the NRL season is finally upon us.
The Vodafone Warriors have their first game of the season against the Bulldogs at Mount Smart Stadium on Saturday.
Warriors coach Stephen Kearney told Mike Hosking they’re ready for the season and are excited to watch newcomer Adam Keighran in action. The 21-year-old started at standoff in each of the club's NRL trial wins over Melbourne and the Wests Tigers.
"Adam has got a really good kicking background. I thought he did really well during the preseason trials, so I am sure he will do a good job. He has got some really experienced leaders around him to help out as well."
The Bulldogs have been named by many pundits as one of the teams most likely to get the wooden spoon. But Kearney wasn't underestimating the Canterbury Bankstown side, alluding to how unpredictable the NRL competition can be.
"They finished last year really well. No team in this competition are easy beats.
"From year to year, it's just so tough but we are ready for it. We want to improve on last year, we want to be better than that."
