Oyster farmers are still waiting for compensation, one year after the destruction of millions of Stewart Island farmed oysters.

The Ministry for Primary Industries ordered the destruction of oysters after a parasite was found in two farms in Big Glory Bay.

Only two out of 40 claims have been settled.

Bluff Oyster Company founder Rodney Clark hasn't been paid and told Mike Hosking he just wants payment for what they destroyed.

"Our claims are in excess of $70 million."

Clark says they had more than 20 million oysters, a hatchery, nursery, breeding programme and a retail outlet.
