There's evidence people with disabilities earn just half of the average income of people without.

Maxim Institute research has found 74 per cent of people with disabilities who aren’t currently working, want to.

It's made a number of recommendations to both Government and employers.

CEO Alex Penk says the statistics are confronting.

He says it's part of a picture that creates a specific risk of poverty for people with disabilities.
