A grieving father is calling for a crackdown on gangs.

Rendell Jack's son Israel was killed in 2013.

He believes a Rotorua gang was behind his son's murder and police are reassessing the investigation.

Rendell Jack told Mike Hosking he wants the government to outlaw gangs like they have in some Australian states.

"They are trying to prevent what is causing the problem, unlike New Zealand which tends to deal with what happened, rather than preventing it from happening in the first place."
