The Police Minister says Labour has delivered on increasing police numbers to crack down on organised crime.
Police say patched members have increased 26 percent since 2017.
Stuart Nash told Mike Hosking National wanted to deliver 880 new police officers over four years, and Labour has delivered that in under two years.
He says 1,683 police have graduated since Labour came into government.
National's justice spokesperson Mark Mitchell says there is still a shortage of police officers throughout the country.
Mitchell says he met Rotorua's front line police yesterday and they are struggling with numbers.
