National's Finance Minister, Steven Joyce and Labour MP, Stuart Nash join Mike Hosking for Politics Wednesday.

It's been 11 days since the special votes came out, a date Winston Peters said he was waiting for before starting discussions with National and Labour.

Nash told Mike Hosking his party's reasonably optimistic, but that's all.

"We can hypotheses until we're blue in the face but until Winston stands in that podium and says I am supporting this party, then we just won't know what's going to happen.
