The Police Minister has criticised a decision to ban uniformed police from marching in the Auckland Pride Parade.
The event has been thrown into disarray, with major sponsors withdrawing, after the board voted in favour of the ban.
The Defence Force has also withdrawn from the event in protest.
Police Minister Stuart Nash told Mike Hosking the Pride board has made a terrible decision.
"A number of police consider themselves part of the gay and lesbian community, in fact, I was at a graduation where a chap proposed to his partner who had just graduated."
