National says it wants more details on the Government's medicinal cannabis legislation before it decides whether to support it.
The Government says it has the numbers to pass the Bill, which will be introduced to Parliament today, regardless of National's stance.
National finance spokesman Steven Joyce told Mike Hosking if the legislation acts as a backdoor to decriminalisation, the party will have to strongly consider its stance.
"My suspicion is that it's actually about the availability of cannabis-based medical products, which is something we would actually be in favour of."
