The Mayor may be coming to the rescue to save the Hamilton Great Kiwi Beer Festival.
The festival has been canned this year after Police and the DHB opposed their alcohol licence and laid down what are being described as "untenable conditions" despite restrictions being agreed to back in January.
The conditions include further reducing the hours alcohol can be served.
This is despite there being no arrests or St John callouts in either of the two previous events.
Hamilton Mayor Paula Southgate told Mike Hosking she's enabling dialogue between the two parties.
“As Mayor, I have a really good relationship with the Police, so I’ve gone and had a good conversation with Police to understand what happened there. They don’t want the event to be stopped either.”
