More than 10 houses were badly damaged in New Plymouth after two tornadoes ripped through the North Island last night.
Odette Bastin had her home's roof ripped off during the storm.
She told Mike Hosking it was extremely shocking.
"I'm still trying to figure it all out, to be honest."
"There was a big bang and the ceiling flew open and then there was no ceiling."
"There's a door that goes into the chimney, that goes into the ceiling and that flew open and as I went to close it I look up and there's just complete sky."
