The world's most notorious criminal mastermind will never be a free man

A jury has found El Chapo guilty on a raft of criminal charges, after a 10-week federal trial in New York.

He faces life in a high-security prison with no chance of parole.

El Chapo appeared genuinely surprised when the verdict was read out, despite the avalanche of evidence against him.

Feature News correspondent Nick Harper told Mike Hosking El Chapo never expected it would come to this.

He'll be formally sentenced in June.
