A superannuation expert says there's no good fiscal reason to change migrant eligibility rules for superannuation.
Winston Peters has revealed the Government is looking into the changing the rules.
He says it's unfair that people who have lived and worked in New Zealand for 10 years are entitled to the same super payments as people who have worked and paid taxes for 45 years.
Auckland University's Michael Littlewood told Mike Hosking there may be fairness reasons, but there aren't fiscal reasons.
"We don't see much up to date data so we really don't know what the implications are, but it's mostly just political posturing."
