Gun lobbyists are being directed to focus their attention on New Zealand First, as debate continues over changes to our firearm legislation.
The Arms Legislation Bill passed its second reading last night - by a slim majority of 63 to 57.
It paves the way for a firearms register and a maximum two year prison sentence for those who supply firearms to people without a licence.
Nicole McKee from the Council of Licensed Firearm Owners told Mike Hosking members have been asked to make contact with New Zealand First.
"Effectively, NZ First are the ones who could seek some common sense here and make some good changes by having it pulled."
