The NZTA is welcoming the results of a report into its regulatory standards.

An independent inquiry was commissioned last year after concerns about unauthorised vehicle inspectors issuing warrants of fitness.

The report found a failure to prioritise public safety was an example of wider systemic failures that have existed for some time.

NZTA Board Chairman, Michael Stiassny told Mike Hosking the findings confirmed the Board’s grave concerns.

Ten of the 25 recommendations have already been implemented or partially implemented.
