Dunedin is set to lose one of its popular student bars.  

The Starters Bar is set to close down, due to health and safety concerns around the building.  

The bar, formerly known as The Oriental, was bought by the Otago University Students' Association in 2018.  

President Michaela Waite-Harvey told Mike Hosking it's hard to see it go.  

"A hard decision, but it really was, ultimately, the right one. There really was only one decision in our mind, morally, for the safety of our students based off of just the building that that bar was in."
