Changes have been proposed to employment laws in film production, but not a repeal as was once suggested.

The Film Industry Working Group has reported back with its recommendations to the Government.

Equity New Zealand says industry-wide workers will likely have the right to bargaining collectively, which hasn't been the case since 2010.

Director Melissa Ansell-Bridges told Mike Hosking a total repeal of the Hobbit law was not going to work for anyone.

"We have got skin in the game too, and it's about finding a balance between security for workers, while attracting productions here."
