A small business advocate says a new payment goal is a move in the right direction, but is urging the government to stand up to big businesses.
The government is setting a target for its departments to pay 95 percent of domestic invoices in 10 business days by June next year.
Small Business Voice CEO, Max Whitehead, told Mike Hosking a lot of small businesses pay their invoices the day they receive them.
"They see big businesses holding money back, which is a dirty way of making money.
"They are using small businesses as a bank for big ones."
