Every Friday morning, Mike Hosking takes you through the big ticket items of the week and lets you know what he makes of it all.

Here's a taste of what he reckons.

Tracey Martin.

4/10.

"Came on this show to defend her poverty figures, ended up telling people with no shoes to cash in their Kiwisaver to buy a house, and that she would walk with them.

And then she went on Facebook and whined."

Winston Peters.

6/10.

"Came on this show, got quoted a speech of his, asked whether he was talking about China, couldn’t answer or wouldn't answer.

Got miffed, although in that loveable Peters sort of way.

But then went on The Country on ZB and whined as well."

Shane Jones.

7/10.

"Came on this show and told it like it was.

He was outrageous in his defence of indefensible behaviour, but did so knowing no one is going to do anything about it."

Sir Michael Cullen.

84/10.

"84 as in $84,000 for four months work.

Despite, as Parliamentary Services so thoroughly revealed, he never once in his time in Parliament or government ever, not once, spoke well of a capital gains tax.

In fact, he argued quite the opposite."

Kiwibuild in Wanaka.

3/10.

"Building non-affordable homes for people who don’t want them, only to have to buy them back themselves, using money they were going to use to build other homes.

What Einstein thinks that’s a programme going places?"

Joe Biden.

7/10.

"Did, by in large, nothing wrong. But said the right thing by way of recognition and apology.

He said it well, and is probably just guilty of being a bloke who failed to leave the late 1970s."

The Crusaders.

3/10.

"Not the team, the name. The team is awesome, the name's also awesome.

It's just we live in a world where Eddie McGuire needs beheading, Joe Biden needs flogging, and we can't waste enough time angsting over trivialities that ultimately make zero difference to anything."
