Builders want consistency from councils on granting consents.
The statutory timeframe to get a building consent should be 20 days.
But Latitude Homes managing director Marc Hunter told Mike Hosking they are being delayed by councils asking for more information, on the 19th day.
He says those questions should come earlier, when the consent's first submitted.
Hunter says it doesn't help that different councils interpret the Building Code differently.
