Extra measures are in place to support students exams after a disrupted year.

NCEA and scholarship exams start today.

Auckland, Waikato and Northland students will get an Unexpected Event Grade if they don't attend their exam.

If they sit the exam, they'll get the better of the two grades.

Auckland students can also get extra Learning Recognition Credits and credit requirements for subjects and University Entrance are lower.

Christchurch Boys' High School Board Chair Leeann Watson told Mike Hosking NZQA understands the disruption.

“Regardless of whether or not NZQA does go through and actually make those adjustments, there is a requirement that students have done some work throughout the year.”
