Three out of four boomers would rather go on holiday overseas, than save the money for their kids.
A travel associates survey found 75 percent of the older generation preferred travel to setting up an inheritance.
Financial Advice New Zealand Chief Executive Katrina Shanks told Mike Hosking there's nothing wrong with boomers treating themselves.
She says they didn't borrow a lot of money and worked hard, so now they're going to enjoy it.
"Younger generations don't need a nest egg like they used to."
