New Zealand's premier basketball competition is hoping to reach out to overseas fans.
The New Zealand NBL has announced an international pay-per-view platform for their revamped competition, with the hope of bringing in some much-needed revenue.
The league, which will feature seven teams whose rosters will be filled by a new draft, will tip off on June 23 with all games played in Auckland.
League general manager Justin Nelson says despite as few ups and downs, everything has come together well.
Mr Nelson says there is an increased demand to watch sport right now.
"Everyone wants to watch live sport, there's plenty of re-runs going on, but there's nothing like live action itself."
Mr Nelson adds the pay-per-view platform can become part of the new normal.
"We could be the only league being played in the world.
"That will create interest and hopefully that's ongoing in the future."
