Call for more short-term foreign workers to help grow NZ's economy

Short-term foreign workers are being seen as necessary to help build our infrastructure.

Conservative think tank the Maxim Institute says we keep bringing in migrants without any sort of commitment.

It's calling for a freeze on the level of temporary work visas, and an overhaul of the way we invite and welcome immigrants to this country.

Association of Migration and Investment chair, June Ranson, told Mike Hosking we need temporary workers to come in to the country.

"Even Grant Robertson said before Christmas, we have these huge infrastructure projects which will need workers."
