Associate Transport minister Julia Anne Genter joins Mike Hosking to talk about the Government's project to lower the road toll.
Over the next three years it will upgrade more than 3,000 kilometres of the country's most dangerous state highways and local roads, at a cost of 1.4 billion dollars.
The theory is the changes will reduce deaths by 160 a year.
Genter says she knows improving the roads is just one piece of the puzzle.
She says Murphy raised some good points about how the licensing system could also reduce the road toll.
