More high schoolers are realising they don't need uni to enter the job market.
The Ministry of Education has published figures showing an 8 per cent jump last year, in the number of students leaving school before their 18th birthday.
Industry Training Federation chief executive Josh Williams told Mike Hosking it's good that kids are seeing more options than just university.
"So for many kids, depending on how you're wired, 12 or 13 years of classrooms is enough [and] they are ready to go."
