Buller is starting to make a bit of a comeback.
New figures show the West Coast district's economy grew by 2.3 percent in 12 months, after shrinking 44 percent since 2012.
Buller Mayor Jamie Cliene told Mike Hosking it was driven locally.
"Council decided to set out on a path to diversify the economy 12 to 18 months ago to see how we can diversify the economy."
Cliene says they're working on not being reliant on any one industry.
