A suggestion that New Zealand needs to prepare for an 'age of artificial intelligence'.
A Royal Society Te Apārangi report discusses what people might need to prepare for ahead of the steady increase of A-I use.
The report's author, Professor James Maclaurin says people need to be careful what information they feed A-I.
He says there's been issues in the United States with systems that detect criminals through CCTV imagery.
"That database in the States is proportionally has black faces in it. The AI is then much better at assessing African American faces, much worse at detecting European faces, so that means it has a bias in it."
