Jacinda Ardern says a crackdown on immigration won't have a significant impact on international education in New Zealand.

Indian student numbers have already dropped, due to changes brought in by the previous Government.

The Prime Minister told Mike Hosking it's important to offer high quality courses that attract top students.

"It's about making sure that those courses that we're giving out visas for have at least approval from NZQA and TEC."

The international education sector is worth around $4.5 billion each year.
