Does Christopher Luxon have what it takes to unite the divided National Party?

The first-term MP is taking over the leadership, with Wellington-based MP Nicola Willis as his deputy.

Luxon's differentiating himself from previous leaders, saying each person has a unique set of skills.

Former aviation industry chief executive Irene King, who has worked alongside Luxon, told Mike Hosking he's the right fit.

“He has what I see as a cut-through leader at the political level, and that’s the ability to get to the nub of the problem. You don't always like the solution, of course.”
