Helen Clark says there's no room for complacency when it comes to gender equality.

Today is International Women's Day and the theme is, 'Press For Progress'.

The former Prime Minister told Mike Hosking she has made a bit of progress in her time, but says there's still a lot to do.

"Not only in our own country but you know the eight years I was working out of New York, I could see how much there is to be done for gender equality worldwide so you know, we can't put up our feet yet."
