Cabinet ministers will discuss today when and how Auckland boundaries will reopen, ahead of an expected Government announcement on Wednesday.
Deputy Prime Minster Grant Robertson says Aucklanders will be able to enter and leave the region over summer.
He told Mike Hosking establishing new boundaries around low-vaccinated regions like Northland and Gisborne could be one way to do that.

Today's cabinet meeting will also include a review of Waikato's alert level, and a decision about booster shots.
