A Welsh challenge to Dunedin's claim as the home of the world's steepest street has begun.
Baldwin Street could lose its title as the world's steepest street to the Welsh town of Harlech.
Its residents are claiming the street of Fford Pen Llech is one degree steeper, at 36 percent gradient, compared to Baldwin's 35.
UK Correspondent Gavin Grey told Tim Dower a decision will be known within a month.
“It looks like a close call for the Guinness Book of Records because the data has been sent. They are due to make a decision on whether Dunedin keeps the record or if Wales gets to snatch it.”
Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull is confident that won't happen, saying Baldwin Street has "seen off" challengers in the past.
