Britain's NHS has completed day one of a new blood test trial...that could revolutionise survival and treatment rates of cancer.  

It will see 140,000 volunteers be given the Galleri test, which looks for cancerous DNA in the bloodstream, before it properly forms.  

Early trials already show it's effective at discovering hard to identify cancers around the head, neck, lungs and throat.  

Cancer Society Medical Director Dr Kate Gregory told Mike Hosking it could be a game changer.  

"There's been some preliminary trials of using this exact same test in the United States which did give really encouraging results, but this is a much bigger trial."
